Now the benefits of an e-SET can be calculated in a simple calculator

I’ve long believed that those who work in health we must help their patients to make better decisions. Sometimes, When transferring more than one embryo, there are two obvious issues to be considered. On the one hand, there was always the idea that the more embryos I transfer, the high pregnancy rate it is (this can be valid for 1 or 2 embryos, but is no longer for larger number of embryos). But on the other hand, the truth is that the more embryos transferred, the greater the chances of multiple pregnancies.

The American Society for Assisted Reproduction Technologies (SART) published a calculator (https://www.sartcorsonline.com/Predictor/Patient) where each patient can put some of these data and determines the odds of having a baby and the probability that it is a multiple pregnancy, either whether an embryo is transferred or if two embryos are transferred.

This is a good tool. It helps to have a clearer idea of something that is sometimes elusive. However, it is still pending that some other odds are included in these tools, showing the probability of multiple pregnancy complications, so we can make more educated decisions and then do it according to the wishes and values of each patient. I’m working on this. Hopefully soon I can have news!
