NEWS – ASSISTED REPRODUCTION

What is your role as Scientific Director at CEGYR?

My main role is to ensure that all the treatments we offer are supported by the best available scientific evidence. Any technology we adopt must have a solid scientific foundation. This involves constantly reviewing advances in reproductive medicine, coordinating research initiatives within the center, training our medical team, and contributing new scientific publications that improve global practices.
We also design new projects aimed at improving the patient experience throughout fertility treatment. We believe success isn’t just about effective treatments — it’s also about delivering information clearly so that patients can make informed decisions. It’s a role that blends science, education, and continuous improvement.

Dr. Demián Glujovsky´s talks are about PGT-A, artificial intelligence, DuoStim, egg banking, endometrial receptivity test, blastocyst transfers, among others.

What does it mean to work with an evidence-based approach?

It means that every medical decision — from ovarian stimulation protocols to embryo selection — is based on rigorous scientific research, not trends or intuition. We move away from the mindset of “each doctor with their own method” and focus instead on analyzing published evidence in depth.
For many years, I’ve worked with systematic reviews and meta-analyses, particularly through my collaboration with Cochrane, an international organization that promotes evidence-based healthcare. My goal is for every patient to receive a treatment supported by strong, reliable data. When the evidence is weaker, we offer it only in specific cases and make sure to be transparent about those limitations.
The evidence-based path may seem narrow or conservative, but it is often the most direct route to the outcomes we all want: healthy live births without unnecessary costs or unrealistic promises.

How do you balance scientific rigor with personalized care?

Science tells us the “what” and often the “how”, but it never replaces the human connection. Listening to each patient, and understanding their story, values, preferences, and fears is essential. I always try to explain options using clear, simple language.
Just today I read an international article that highlighted the power of metaphors in helping patients understand complex information. I genuinely care about how people feel throughout the process — success isn’t just about results, it’s also about the emotional experience along the way.

What makes CEGYR different from other fertility centers?

We’re a center with over 40 years of experience, and I think what truly sets us apart is how we combine clinical expertise with scientific innovation. At CEGYR, we work as a team, constantly sharing knowledge and staying open to change if the evidence points to better ways of doing things.
Today, with the emergence of many AI-based tools and companies, continuous evaluation of each device or algorithm is essential. Our research department plays a key role in ensuring that any new technology we adopt is implemented responsibly, and always in the patient’s best interest.

Preparing tlaks for scientific meetings helps Dr. Demián Glujovsky to re-analyze the published evidence to present it in the meeting: IVF, PGT-A, egg donation, egg freezing, egg banking, personalized treatments and repeated implantation failures are the some of the most common topics.

What projects are you currently working on?

Right now, we’re researching how artificial intelligence might help improve prognosis assessments, ultrasound monitoring, oocyte quality evaluation, and embryo selection — always with a critical eye.
We’re also conducting studies on patient experience and quality of life during fertility treatment. I’m proud to lead a passionate team of young researchers who are eager to explore and innovate. This drive has led to regular participation in national and international scientific conferences, and several of our publications have been recognized for their contributions to the field.

What message would you give to someone starting fertility treatment?

You’re not alone. I know this journey can bring anxiety, uncertainty, and many emotions. But I also know that today we have powerful tools to help. The most important thing is to take the first step — schedule a consultation and build a plan together, with clear information, realistic expectations, and support throughout every stage.
At our research department, we’re constantly working to generate and validate resources that help personalize treatments and improve the patient journey.
